For once the wind flags hardly stirred and the light remained constant for the East Grinstead Open Shoot over the weekend, but target shooting is a demanding sport and in completing three cards at 50 metres even the experts had to work hard to get some high scores. In Class A it was Adam Cornbill of Southwick who just shaded the win over Malcolm Brain of East Grinstead, both scoring 590 ex 600 but with Cornbill taking the victory on count back to the best of previous cards. Malcolm Brain, however, won the Veterans Handicap. EGTSC members David White won Class B and Sheena Wilde Class C. There was a good performance by James Baird of Aldingbourne to win Class D, the Juniors handicap and together with Scott Strotten of Aldingbourne, the Class C & D Pairs. The winner of the Ladies Handicap was Linda Smallbone of Eastbourne. As with all the Club events the gathering of shooters is an opportunity to enjoy the sport with plenty of good food and friendly banter.
